Studio Classes
Which class is right for me?
All classes last for 60 minutes.
We start by settling in, connecting to the breath and setting intention.
We end in a resting pose.
What happens for the rest of each hour is described here.
If you’ve got any questions about whether a class will be suitable for your specific needs, please get in touch.

Gentle
Breathe and move at a gentle pace that’s ideal for people who are new to yoga.
No prior experience needed – poses are broken down and explained with staged options, giving you time to focus on range, alignment and the impact of each movement on the body.
We’ll take time to notice the breath, settle the mind, and calm the nervous system
Expect: A mix of floor-based and standing poses, followed by a gentle ease into stillness.
Restore
The focus is low, slow and mindful in these yin-inspired, restorative sessions.
Floor-based, using a range of props including bolsters and blankets to fully support your body in passive poses that promote deep relaxation and nervous system regulation.
Gravity creates the magic here. This one’s about releasing, softening and letting go…
Expect: To really tune into sensation, find your edge and let go of embodied stress.
Flow
Poses are stacked together into a dynamic moving sequence in this Vinyasa-inspired class.
We’ll move mindfully, exploring the connections between breath and intention, effort and ease and strength and balance – until the movement becomes the meditation…
Expect: Sun salutations, standing balances and warrior flows. Less explanation, more movement.
Stretch
Lifting heavy at the gym? Smashing your PB at ParkRun?
With its focus on stabilising muscles that support posture, alignment and control, yoga might be your surprise best friend.
Learn to identify, target and release tension in overworked areas.
Expect: To work on flexibility and finding a different type of strength in stillness

As the name suggests…
Open studio, allowing the opportunity to try out a class, with the option to pay what you feel at the end.
The class level will be suitable for beginners – a great way to see whether yoga might be for you.
Places still need to be reserved online, as space in the studio is limited.
Select a free ticket when you book. I look forward to meeting you!

Questions?
All classes are 60 minutes. Please arrive a few minutes early so that we can all settle in and start the class together.
Please wear whatever you find comfy to move and stretch in. Joggers, leggings, TShirt – it doesn’t have to be anything fancy.
I’ll ask you to take off your shoes on the way in and put them to one side until the end. Bare feet or sticky socks are fine for the class – the floor’s a bit slippy for normal socks.
We’ve got mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets that you’re very welcome to use. If you want to bring your own, that’s great too.
If you’d like to bring an extra layer, an eye mask or something fluffy for our rest at the end, you’re very welcome. You do you 🧡
Water’s always a good idea.
Last-minute walk in classes are £10 for 60 minutes. Classes booked in advance are £9.
Numbers are limited to keep space comfortable, so booking in advance is recommended.
You can buy ‘flexible block’ passes of five classes or ten classes that last for two months and bring down the price per class. A block of five classes costs £40, a block of ten costs £75. Passes last for 60 days from the first class they’re used against.
If you’re cancelling more than 24 hours in advance, email debbie@derwentsideyoga.co.uk for a full refund. Bookings cancelled at less than 24 hours notice will not be refunded.
This also applies to bookings made using a five or ten class pass.
No, you’re very welcome just to turn up and pay the £10 walk in rate if there’s space.
If you haven’t visited before, please try and arrive in time to have a quick chat about your previous yoga experience and any health / medical considerations.
All certified yoga teachers in the UK have a fundamental grounding in anatomy as part of our certification, but we are not trained medical professionals.
If you have a specific medical / health condition and are not sure whether yoga is a good option for you, the first question I will ask is; ‘have you checked with your GP/ consultant / treatment team?’
Once you’ve checked and confirmed that they are happy for you to come along, we’ll take it from there.
All classes are suitable for ages 16+ . If you are the parent of a younger person with a regular practice and would like them to come along with you to a class, get in touch.
There is no upper age limit for yoga.
Yoga can be brilliant in pregnancy, but requires specific adaptations.
I don’t currently offer pregnancy yoga classes, and our general studio classes are not designed to accommodate the high level of care and attention that pregnant bodies deserve.
I can recommend other yogis in the local area who do offer pregnancy yoga as a specialism – please get in touch if that’s something you’re looking for.
I offer pay what you feel classes on alternate Sundays, where you’re very welcome to come along and try a session with no obligation to pay.
If you’re a yogi whose practice is at risk through lack of funds, get in touch. We’ll work something out.
